Rohit Shetty—The Spot Boy Who Rose To Fame As Director

Every shiny star has to start as a miniature entity before reaching the goal. If you consider the glamour world or film fraternity, there are oodles of examples of the celebs that have started their career from the non-glamour world.

Hrithik Roshan offered assistance to his father during filming the most successful Karan Arjun, during the 90’s. Another diamond that came from the mine of coal is Rohit Shetty. He is famous for his blockbusters like Chennai Express, series of Golmaal, and more. However, the story was a bit different in 1995. He was not the most sought-after director at that time but used to iron Tabu’s saris in the film unit of Haqeeqat.

He initiated his career in the film fraternity as a spot boy and the rest, as we know is a history. He revealed his period of struggle during the show named India’s Next Superstars, where he is co-judging the show with Karan Johar.

Shetty had ironed Tabu’s saree in 1995 while he directed her in 2017 for the latest Golmaal flick. He had also directed the co-star of Tabu in Haqeeqat, Ajay Devgan, in films like Golmaal and Singham series, etc.

Moving on to his struggles, Rohit also touched up Kajol’s makeup during a different movie back then. However, he directed her as well for his film Dilwale in 2015.

From being a spot boy, Shetty had played a role of assistant director in many of the films of Ajay Devgan like Phool Aur Kaante, Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha, Suhaag, and Raju Chacha. Hence, he initiated his career as a debutant director with none other than Ajay Devgan for the 2003’s film Zameen.

The Golmaal series had accumulated a lot of appreciation at the box office and the latest film Golmaal Again has earned Rs. 200 crore. Tabu had expressed her keen interest to act on a commercial film to Rohit, which he materialized during the direction of the film.
