It was just announced that Nicole Pacent (Anyone But Me) has joined the cast of the new feature film and episodic series, Queens of the World (QOTW).

Pacent (left) takes on the lead role of rising soccer star, Maggie Connor, in the film and will star opposite Nikki Caster (below, right) (Cherry Bomb), Elizabeth Keener (The L Word) and Meghan Hall (below, left) (Sweet Adventures of Nat & Meg). QOTW is also being developed into an episodic series, in which Pacent will also star alongside her film cast mates.

QOTW is a new feature film which begins shooting in late 2010 and tells the “Notebook-esque” love story between two female athletes, who are separated by violence as they each strive to compete in the Women’s Professional Soccer arena.

QOTW was written and will be directed by Mel Robertson, Producer of the Academy Award-Winning film, Christmas Wish List, Screenwriting Winner of The New York Independent Film and Video Festival for her Screenplay, Heroine and multiple award-winning director of the dark new media project, FEED (as seen on Logonline, 365gay, Cherry Grrl and AfterEllen).

Pacent is best known for her portrayal of ‘Aster’ on the hit web series Anyone But Me from writer/producer Susan Miller (The L Word and Thirtysomething). The series, which recently reached two million views (and counting), is currently in its second season.

Pacent was recently voted First Runner Up for SheWired’s 2009 Gay Woman of the Year, nominated as Best Actress in a Supporting Role in the 2010 Indie Soap Awards and as Best Actress in Cherry Grrl’s Reader’s Choice Awards for her work on Anyone But Me.

Nicole is a classically trained actor, who received her BFA in Drama at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. Her NYC theater credits include Revenge of the Space Pandas at the Atlantic; Howard Fishman’s blues-folk musical We Are Destroyed; Dartown Strutter’s Ball, a 20s-style cabaret at the legendary venue Don’t Tell Mama; Yoav Gal’s indie opera Mosheh; Dark Rapture with The Attic Theater Company at The Connelly; and The Seagull at NYU. Television credits include Guiding Light (CBS), and Movie Cliché Theater (TV Land).

Alongside her artistic endeavors, Pacent has been involved in LGBT activism for several years, and has also recently begun to devote her efforts towards cancer prevention. She organized a concert in October called ‘Relief Through Rock: Chicks for a Cure,’ the proceeds of which were donated to the American Association for Cancer Research. She is currently in the process of establishing Relief Through Rock as a non-profit organization whose mission will be to raise funds and awareness for a number of crucial causes.

Pacent will next appear at The Dinah, 2010 (www.thedinah.com) with her QOTW cast mates, making red carpet appearances for Queens and Anyone But Me, as well as appearing in a live reading of the QOTW script, which will be followed by a Q&A and appearances alongside other Dinah celebrities, such as: performing artists: Kesha, Paradiso Girls, Salt & Peppa; comedians: Rosie O‘Donnell, Susanne Westenhoefer, Gloria Bigelow, Erin Foley; and actresses: Elizabeth Keener, Thea Gill, Jill Bennett and Cathy DeBuono throughout the weeklong soiree in Palm Springs, California.

YEA MEGHAN HALL! So happy for you GRRL! For those who don’t Meghan, she totally eats, sleeps and breathes women’s soccer. She is an AWESOME player. Sweet Adventures of Nat and Meg, Sweet Cruise Lines advertising utilized her too. She is an absolutely great person with an incredibly funny, intelligent, and spontaneous mind!
