The Golden State Warriors are hosting their first ever official Gay and Lesbian Night at Oracle Arena on March 11, 2010 when the Warriors take on the Portland Trailblazers. A portion of each ticket’s proceeds will be donated to the Positive Resource Center, an organization that raises money for service organizations serving individuals with HIV/AIDS and other life-challenging conditions through performance.

The event is affiliated with the San Francisco Rockdogs, one of the oldest and most-decorated teams in gay basketball; having won numerous basketball tournaments since 1997, including the two Gay Games in (1998 and 2006), and seven consecutive national tournaments.

According to Interbasket.net: “Participants not only get to watch the game that night, but can partake in an open gym at Oracle Arena earlier in the day. The open court play will allow ticket holders to play basketball on an NBA court.  The open court play is hosted by the Rockdogs. Other events that day include a special tailgating event, lounge access before the game, an special LGBT event t-shirt to mark the night, and seating with other gay and lesbian basketball fans. Additionally, the National Anthem will be performed by the Oakland Gay Men’s Chorus, and there will be a halftime performance by Cheer SF, a local gay cheerleading squad.”
