…A summary of the past week’s news, full of “gay claws” and big “swishes”
President Obama made a surprise visit to the troops in Afghanistan over the weekend, after spending the beginning of the week shining those pearly whites to win the healthcare battle. Last week, of course, marked the passage of Obama’s healthcare plan in the House; the bill is currently sitting in the Senate, where its fine points are being “worked out” by committee members. Obama secured the votes of conservative Democrats in the House by vowing that no federal dollars will be used to fund abortion. Before leaving for Afghanistan, the president also made 15 appointments, which angered Republicans, as the appointments were made “on the sly” during recess. Of course, such appointments have been made all the time; George W. Bush made 170 such appointments. The Republicans didn’t say much then, did they?
Last week Rachel Maddow took a FOX-News approach, a la the Glenn Beck martyrific-narcissist style, to the news by talking about herself. Let me clarify: Scott Brown, the newly elected, conservative pinup, to the Senate, has taken it upon himself to send a letter to potential fundraisers claiming that Maddow is planning to run against him in Massachusetts, and that this liberal lesbian must be stopped, so, i.e., “show me the money!” Maddow then invited Brown on her show to discuss the letter, since she nor the Democratic Party ever indicated otherwise. She continued to beat this issue all week on her show; she even took out an ad in the Boston Globe to make explicit the fact that she is not running. Rachel Maddow, I adore you, but just drop it. Seriously. Just move on. Clearly Senator Brown is a douche-nozzle; there’s no need to ramble on endlessly about it. Look, I’ll move on to show you how easy it is.
Last week, you’ll recall that I asked when we might be able to see that delicious Jane Lynch sing “Vogue.” Well, ladies, my wish was granted in a different way. This past Monday, FOX released a Glee teaser, an episode of “Sue’s Corner,” (view it below) which has spread like wildfire through the lesbo-internet-waves:
Jane Lynch should seriously receive a Golden Globe for this performance.
As if an episode of “Sue’s Corner” wasn’t gratifying enough, I came across this clip from Logo’s The Big Gay Sketch Show, called “When Dykes Attack”:
This clip is hilarious; I actually want to tune in to the new season—unlike other seasons, whose skits have been less than inconsistent with “bringing the funny.”
