Los Angeles has launched its first gay and lesbian travel guide. Called Navigaytour, the guide is now available for visitors in locations throughout the region.
“The Navigaytour is an official guide for Los Angeles,” said publisher David Jefferys. “It showcases many wonderful things that gay LA has to offer.”
Produced in association with LA INC (the Los Angeles Convention and Visitors Bureau), The Navigaytour provides detailed information on gay-friendly hotels, dining, bars, clubs, attractions, and sporting events.
According to Patrick Kaler, Senior Director Travel Industry and Tourism Development from LA INC, “Los Angeles continues to be an exciting destination for the LGBT market, and as a destination we are pleased to have a marketing piece that compliments our content rich website, discoverLosAngeles.com. The partnership with Navigaytour, allows for a deeper reach into the LGBT community to entice more visitors to Los Angeles.”
Los Angeles ranks No. 4 for LGBT Travel among U.S. Destinations, according to Community Marketing Inc., a firm that provides market research focusing on the gay and lesbian market.
In addition to the printed guides, the Navigaytour can be downloaded on a number of websites including navigaytour.com, discoverLosAngeles.com/gay, wehochamber.com and hollywoodchamber.net. The guide is also available on the Los Angeles section of GayCities.com, the largest gay-travel website in the world.
The Navigaytour was founded in Philadelphia in 2002 by the Altus Agency (www.altusagency.com), a marketing communications company focused on gay and lesbian consumers. The guides were developed as an outgrowth to Philadelphia’s first-ever gay-themed tourism campaign, “Philadelphia: Get Your History Straight and Your Nightlife Gay™” for the Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation.
Altus Agency is gay-owned and is a member of the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC). Altus is also a founding member of the Independence Business Alliance (IBA), the gay chamber of commerce for the Philadelphia region.
