FW: Thanks. I call my music “sad piano songs.” We can also go with indie pop. We’ll see where it goes from here. I’m at the beginning of what I hope is a long journey of musical exploration. Fun stuff.
CG: Who are your musical influences?
FW: Numbers one and two are an easy Ani Difranco and Tori Amos. I think my music so far may be a mix of the two. Joni Mitchell, Lemonheads, Pavement, Juliana Hatfield, Violent Femmes, Soundgarden, Ween, William Finn, Indigo Girls, The Beatles…all major artists for me growing up. And I watched Headbanger’s Ball every Saturday night at midnight, when I was a kid. So I also grew up loving bands like Skid Row, Metallica, Def Leppard, Slaughter, Poison, Warrant. You get my point.
CG: What are your future goals for your music career?
FW: Write, write, write, and then write some more. I would love to start recording my first full-length album within the year. And I just want to keep playing for people, keep meeting other musicians, and going to see other musicians play. I’m trying not to get too far ahead of myself, one step at a time.
CG: I also noticed that you are a “professional organizer.” Can you tell us what that is all about?
FW: You bet I can. I own a business called NEW ORDER. Yeah, like the band. It’s all about getting rid of clutter and teaching folks simple principles about how to maintain organization. Kinda like being a personal trainer. So, a client may not change overnight, and it takes some work, but the results are totally life-altering. I’m doing a bit less of it now, as the focus has shifted more to my artistic life (though I do believe there is definitely a lot of creativity and art in organizing!). www.napo.net is a great place to go to learn more about this awesome world.
CG: It seems like you definitely have a lot going on – how do you balance it all?
FW: Oh, I’m pretty much certifiable. I make lists, I set timers, I stay on top of my paper organization, and I spend a lot of time feeling like a crazy person.
CG: Any time for relationships? Are you dating anyone special?
FW: Hmm. I’ll make such time when said special person shows up.
CG: What’s up next for you – where will we be seeing you next?
FW: I just shot an episode of a new Bruckheimer show for CBS, Miami Medical; my song “Yours” (from my first EP Blankets) was just on the February 4th episode of ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy; playing live shows around L.A. and hopefully in NYC this spring; working on some classical theatre with the Antaeus Company; shooting a new web series I wrote; and more “Rose…”
