Fitness expert and former reality TV star Jackie Warner is back with a new bestselling diet and exercise book. 10 POUNDS IN 10 DAYS: The Secret Celebrity Program for Losing Weight Fast gives readers an easy to follow blueprint for losing weight and getting in shape, fast. Here, CherryGRRL catches up with Warner to discuss her latest projects, get her take on all those infomercial promises, and get some valuable tips on jumpstarting a healthy lifestyle.
CherryGRRL (CG): Congrats on the new book! This is a follow up to your last book, This Is Why You’re Fat (And How to Get Thin Forever), which was a huge success. What inspired you to put another one out there at this time?
Jackie Warner (JW): Well, first of all, this book just made the New York Times bestseller list – so people are really responding to it nicely, which makes me feel great. I put this book out because I keep getting the question through my 13-year career, “How do I lose 10 pounds?” so this was something I had to write because it’s such a pressing question. Most people don’t have a 60-pound weight loss; they have within the 10- and 15-pound range. I thought to myself, Okay, I’ve been actually addressing this throughout my whole career, but how can I really refine it? I wanted to make it the simplest diet for people and also make it last. So, there is a maintenance program attached to the book that’s very important in keeping the weight off.
CG: This is Why You’re Fat focused on adding healthy, fat burning foods into your diet and eating clean combined with really effective exercise routines – stressing that it’s now how long, but how strong, you work out. How is the approach different in 10 POUNDS IN 10 DAYS: The Secret Celebrity Program for Losing Weight Fast?
JW: I make it super simple. There is no cooking at all in this program. I give you grocery lists, you get already prepared food at the market, and you come home and you just do to them what I tell you to… for one. Number two, this book is filled with what I call “Superstar Foods,” which aren’t really just super food, but have the most bang for your buck in terms of weight loss. So, I give you the list of Superstar Foods, you incorporate then on a daily basis, it will help balance your metabolism, and help balance your chemistry so that your own body can start producing fat burning hormones. That is very key to weight loss. Most people have an imbalance of hormones, or toxic organs such as the liver, which is the number one organ responsible for metabolizing fat. So we get those balanced and it starts working instantly, within 24 hours.
CG: Why do you call this the “secret celebrity program”?
JW: Well, because of course I work this program with all my celebrities because they come to me and they’re always under the gun for time. You know, they’ll hire me at the last second, when they’ve got like two weeks till they shoot a movie, or two weeks till the red carpet, and so every single celebrity is like: “How can I lose ten pounds, or five pounds, fast?” So I started kind of creating a program for them and combined all the data and information I’ve learned throughout the years and got sort of a very refined version of that.
