GLAAD and The Tribeca Film Festival

The Tribeca Film Festival, which will run from April 22 – May 3 in New York City, has in the past been inclusive of LGBT films, but this year – with the help of The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) – the community will be more involved than ever before.

GLAAD is partnering with the festival and will be co-presenting Making the Boys, a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the off-Broadway play The Boys in the Band and subsequent film release two years later. The documentary will be screened April 27 with a panel discussion to follow. Additionally, GLAAD recommends other LGBT-inclusive films in the festival this year including Kirby Dick’s new documentary Outrage, which delivers a searing indictment of the hypocrisy of closeted politicians who actively campaign against the LGBT community. Off and Running, a film with lesbian parenting at its core, and The Fish Child, which is likened to a bold Argentine Thelma and Louise, are the lesbian features currently scheduled.

Tribeca is definitely a worthy stop for those interested in queer cinema this year and to find out more, and purchase tickets, visit http://www.tribecafilm.com/festival.
