Gay March on Washington Set for October

LGBT equality activist Cleve Jones announced last week that the National Equality March on Washington, slated for Columbus Day weekend, is now confirmed.

The blog JoeMyGod.com reported on June 12 that the October 10-11 event was cleared and would take place and quoted Jones as saying, “We put in a request for the West Lawn of the Capitol, where the Obama inauguration took place, and we got it. Nobody else had applied for it.”

The purpose of the March is to pressure the Obama administration to put federal protections in place for gay and lesbian Americans and their families.
