Fame Focus Friday: Kelly Clarkson’s Not Single or Gay

Your weekly dose of celebrity commentary and gossip, with a lesbian spin.

American Idol stars have been all over the news lately. However, Kelly Clarkson didn’t offend the gays the way Fantasia Barrino did last week. In fact, she did quite the opposite.

Rumors of Kelly Clarkson being a closeted lesbian have been swirling about ever since I can remember. Clarkson has relentlessly tried to squash the rumors though no matter how hard the woman tries, it never seems to work. In a final attempt, Clarkson even got engaged in December (Ok fine, or it’s because she actually likes this guy).

Last week, Clarkson told Cosmopolitan, “People think, ‘Oh, she’s been single for too long. That’s kind of an insult to the gay community. Being single doesn’t mean you’re gay.”

Valid statement Kelly. Though, and this is simply to stir the pot, one could argue being engaged doesn’t mean you’re straight. But that’s besides the point right now.

Regardless, Clarkson so eloquently goes on to say she is never insulted by women hitting on her, and in fact it’s rather flattering.

“I mean, I get hit on by the hottest girls ever,” she told the magazine. “Oh, my God, if I were a lesbian, I would be so in luck.”

Back off Kelly! Quit being so selfish and save some girls for those of us who would actually appreciate it!

So, while Clarkson may not play for our team, she does openly support gay rights, and though she is a Republican, she voted against Mitt Romney because of his stance on the matter.

I hope for Clarkson’s sake she does manage to crush these lesbian rumors once and for all. Whether the woman is or isn’t a lesbian, she can still sing like a goddess. Plus, defending your sexuality is never a fun game. So lets lay off Clarkson for a while and focus on the important things in life. Like the new rumors of Lindsay Lohan stealing Elizabeth Taylor’s bracelet.
