Cherry Grrl’s March Madness has delivered a victor, and in the end it wasn’t even close: Brittany and Santana of Glee are our 2011 champions, beating out an impressive pantheon of fictional lesbian couples along the way. The final round was a surprising bloodbath, with Naomi and Emily of Skins (UK) taking a beating to the tune of more than 30,000 votes as Brittana secured the win in complete dominance.
As the rounds progressed, it was clear the Glee duo had a dedicated, insane determined fan base that smelled the opportunity to make a statement as their couple’s romance finally got some long-awaited development in recent episodes.
It takes a special kind of fandom to keep hope alive as everyone tells you that you’re crazy and that Santana is obviously straight and in love with Puck (ha ha, annoying neighbor lady!). As a Brittana shipper myself, I knew from the beginning that the former cheerleaders would be hard to beat. If you can watch Brittany/Artie mack without sporking your eyes out, if you can sit through hours of Finn blathering on in the hopes of a single pinky hold or secret glance, everything else is cake. To celebrate the champions, we’ll be counting down the top 10 Brittana moments in style.

Santana’s speech to Brittany was similar to Naomily’s speech. Not only that, Naomily is more realistic. Like, more people relate to Naomily than with Brittana.
