Formosa Travel & Holidays, Australia’s leading Taiwan specialist, has released the 2010 Taipei Gay & Lesbian Travel Guide. This is the first ever travel publication that details Taipei’s extensive variety of gay and lesbian tourism, including famous rainbow hotels, gay bars and clubs, and  LGBT events and leisure activities.

The city of Taipei, Taiwan’s vibrant capital, has opened itself up as the flourishing gay capital of Asia, with a gay and lesbian scene that has seen it dubbed as Asia’s San Francisco.

Like most gay cities of the world, Taipei is home to its own Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras – The Annual Taiwan LGBT Pride Parade – the largest and the only gay and lesbian parade in Asia. Dubbed “Love Out Loud! The Power of Love Conquers Discrimination,” the seventh annual Gay Pride Parade was held last year on October 31st, 2009. Over 28,000 people showed up to march in the parade, asking for recognition of equal rights and same-sex marriage. The parade also included supporters from Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, Europe, and the USA.

Throughout the year, several gay and lesbian parties are held at Taipei’s most popular LGBT hot spot, Luxy, including Sista Jumpa, Lesz Meeting, and the traditional end of year Gay Dance Party, held on Christmas Eve, with last year’s evening attracting over 5,000 revelers.

The 2010 Taipei Gay & Lesbian Travel Guide also details the range of gay and lesbian friendly leisure activities unique to Taipei, including cycling and sightseeing tours, late night markets, and shopping highlights .

Although a portion of the guide is dedicated to “hook up” spots for gay men, there is a significant amount of information that can be useful to the lesbian traveler.
